Burgers need a spread, so check out this list of dairy free dressings!

    Ingredients

    Ingredients Needed

You have lots of wiggle room here, but these ingredients are the basics:

    • Ground Beef
    • Lettuce/Salad Mix
    • Tomatoes
    • Onions
    • Pickles
    • Potatoes

    Substitutions/Variations

    • Swap the beef for turkey or chicken instead!
    • Make Chicken Feta Spinach Burgers.
    • Try unique cheese.
    • Add in more veggies.
    • Use your favorite french fries instead of making them from scratch.
    • Use Sweet Potato Fries instead!

    How to Make

Start by making the french fries. If you're using a frozen bag, cook according to the package. If you're making your own, slice the potatoes into french fry shapes.

Heat the cooking fat in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. When heated, add the potatoes, and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown on the outside. Set aside.

    Making the french fries

Split the ground beef into 4 patties. Fry them for approximately 6 minutes per side in the same skillet, or until an internal temperature reaches 165F degrees.

    Making the burgers

Prep all your veggies and get them ready to go! Chop the pickles, onions, tomatoes, and any other toppings you may be using.

    Prepping the veggies

Now start building your bowl! Start with the lettuce and greens, then the fries, burgers, and toppings. Finish off with the sauce of your choosing!

    Burger Salads

Would you like to consume less carbs? To make this more of a traditional salad, you can leave out the potatoes and go heavier on the greens.

    Toppings

There's so many options here! Use any toppings you'd like.

    • Pumpkin seeds
    • Goat Cheese
    • Banana Peppers
    • Bleu Cheese
    • Gorgonzola
    • Hot pepper sandwich spread

    Dressings/Condiments

All of these dressings are soy free and use fresh ingredients!

    • Dairy Free Ranch Dressing
    • Sugar Free Honey Mustard
    • Cilantro Lime Dressing

I also like to use dressings and sauces from Noble Made!

    Why You'll Love this Recipe

These healthy burger bowls are so clean and delicious! It also comes together quickly and has so many ways to make it different!

    Meal Prep Options

Want to make this in advance? Prep your veggies in advance and make the burgers ahead of time.

You can technically make the fries in advance, but they don't reheat as well.

    Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

To reheat, place all items (except any sauce you're using) in a bowl or on a plate in the oven on 350F degrees. Heat until everything is heated through.

    Are Burger Bowls Healthy?

They are as healthy as you choose to make them! This particular recipe IS healthy as it uses clean, fresh ingredients and has no added sugar or gluten.

Can I use a different type of meat or a meatless option?

You can definitely use a different meat! I could recommend using turkey or chicken instead. You can do a meatless option as well by using a meat substitute if you choose.

Are these burger bowls dairy free?

Yes, as written they are dairy free! However if you'd like you can definitely add cheese as an optional topping!

How can I make burger bowls vegetarian or vegan?

Yes, you can make burger bowls vegetarian or vegan! I don't recommend it but you can use a meat substitute if you'd like. A better option would be to use a Portobello mushroom to make it vegan or vegetarian!

What is the healthiest way to eat a burger?

The healthiest way to eat a burger is up for debate, but these burger bowls are probably one of the top options! They're clean without added ingredients, free from the top food allergens, and real food based.

What can I put on a burger to make it healthy?

Go bun-less! That eliminates gluten and added sugar and preservatives. These burger bowls are a much healthier way to eat a burger.

What is the healthiest way to cook burger patties?

If you're going to pan fry a burger, I'd recommend cooking it on a cast iron skillet as that's the healthiest option. If you need some cooking fat, use an animal based fat such as beef tallow or grass fed butter or ghee.

    Does a healthy burger exist?

Yes! It all depends on your bun and toppings and any added ingredients to the burger itself. Try to avoid added sugar, gluten, or processed ingredients like many preservatives.
