Sauces are LIFE on the Whole30, so I’ve been wanting to make a Whole30 ranch dressing! The pre-made ones, while generally delicious, also cost a small fortune and aren’t something I can afford often, so a DIY version was necessary.
Whole30 Ranch Dressing ingredients
We’re gonna use all fresh ingredients in this recipe! That way it’s more nutritious! Of course if you’re out of the list of ingredients, using dried herbs is also ok, but you’ll have to play around with the measurements.
The base of this paleo ranch dressing is mayo. You can use a pre-made mayo, or make your own! It’s very easy to make your own. You literally only NEED an egg and oil. However, you can of course make it more flavorful by using spices. If you need a recipe for mayo, click here! I made this one to be be yeast free as I have a yeast sensitivity. It’s quite basic, and great for turning it into ranch or another dressing. You can also easy flavor it up by adding a tablespoon of curry powder and have it with tuna!
If you want a pre-made mayo however, my favorite is from Primal Kitchen’s Mayo! It’s Whole30 approved and made with clean, nourishing ingredients! It’s also available in Whole Foods and many regular grocery stores also, even in some Walmarts! It’s easily accessible.
Yeast Free Paleo Ranch Dressing
Another reason I wanted to make my own Whole30 ranch dressing is due to the fact that all (that I’ve found) store bought ranches and almost all diy ranches contain yeast via vinegar. I’ve made this yeast free by using distilled white vinegar!
I corresponded with the Whole30 registered dietician and found out that distilled vinegar is filtered, thereby containing no to very little yeast. Fantastic! If you are VERY sensitive to yeast, use caution and experiment before assuming distilled vinegar is safe for you. But in most cases, it is completely free of yeast which opens up a whole new world of condiment recipes!
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 large garlic clove peeled and diced (or 2 small cloves)
- 1/4 cup onion chopped
- 1 Tbsp distilled vinegar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup fresh dill lightly packed
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley lightly packed
Allergen and Lifestyle Friendly
As mentioned above, this is a healthy alternative, and it’s also allergen friendly!
There’s no dairy in it, so it’s dairy free lactose free, paleo, and Whole30. There’s also no soy in it! Almost all store bought mayos use soybean oil. Even the ones “made with olive oil” are in reality only partially made with olive oil, as they also contain soybean oil as well! Great for advertising, not so great for health minded people who read their labels!
Use this for all your Whole30 and Paleo meals!
Uses for Paleo + Whole30 Ranch Dressing
Use this literally anyway you would use regular ranch! As dip for veggies, on pizza (who else LOVES ranch on their pizza!!??), burgers, chicken wings, however you’d like!
I love to just slather this on almost any meal I’m making! I especially love making roasted potatoes and hot dog slices, then dousing it with this delicious paleo ranch dressing! Just add a side of frozen green beans or another veggie and you have an instant meal!
Another way I love to enjoy ranch dressing is on mashed potatoes! So yummy and adds a lot of flavor beyond milk and butter or ghee!
Of course there’s always the typical use of salad dressing! It will absolutely flavor up any salad you make!
