Whole30 taco seasoning is a must have recipe when trying to eat healthy! It's a multi-purpose spice blend that you can use for fajitas, taco bowls, enchiladas, and more!

All of the spices in a small bowl, not yet mixed.

Want to take your tacos up a notch? Try this cilantro lime dressing! It's incredibly tasty and will become a requirement for all taco Tuesdays!

    Ingredients

An array of five spices against a dark brown wooden background. From left to right there is chipotle chili pepper, cumin, salt, oregano, and garlic powder.
    • Salt
    • Garlic
    • Cumin
    • Chipotle
    • Oregano

That's it! Only five ingredients but it will be such a flavorful taco meat! You definitely won't miss the packaged seasoning that has preservatives and questionable ingredients.

The cumin is definitely the main ingredient here. If you'd like to take it up a notch, learn how to make roasted cumin powder to really make this seasoning from scratch!

    Instructions

To make this seasoning, all you have to do is place everything in a container or bowl, and mix together.

A small bowl with all the spices inside, a hand is holding a wooden spoon mixing them together.

That's it! Now you have a taco seasoning that you can use your entire round of Whole30!

    Variations

    • Garlicky-make this extra garlicky by adding in more garlic powder! You can use flakes as well.
    • Spicy-add more chipotle powder if you want it hotter.

    Storage

If you won't be using this right away, store this in an airtight container in a cool, dark area.

You can use an old, empty spice container for convenience.

However, I typically just make one batch and put it right in the ground meat as it cooks!

    Uses

So many possibilities for this seasoning! The obvious way to use this paleo taco seasoning is to season taco meat. Typically ground beef is used. However, you can use ground chicken or turkey also!

You can also use it for fajitas. Season your meat with this homemade taco seasoning before cooking.

Use it to season tomato sauce to cook enchiladas, or to spoon onto tacos or fajitas for a sauce.

    Serving Size

This recipe is good for 1 or 1.5 pounds of ground meat. You could triple or quadruple it if you want to make a larger batch of it to grab for cooking.

If you make a large batch, you'd technically measure out 1 tablespoon plus 2-¾ teaspoons of seasoning per pound of ground meat. However if you want to round up to make it easier, measure out 2 tablespoons per 1-1.5 pounds of ground beef.

How Long Does Paleo Taco Seasoning Last

To see how long Whole30 taco seasoning will last, check the best by date on all the seasonings that you use.

Whatever is the soonest one, that is the date that you can use for your paleo taco seasoning.
