    The Easiest Caprese Crostini

    These caprese crostini are the perfect bite-sized appetizer. They’re fresh, vibrant, and beautifully simple—just a few ingredients, minimal prep, and a presentation that looks far more impressive than the effort involved. The combination of juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and bright basil never fails, especially with a drizzle of balsamic to bring it all together. Whether it’s a holiday gathering, summer cookout, or date night in, these are dependable crowd-pleasers that disappear fast.

    Ingredients

    • Gluten free baguette-style bread
    • Pesto
    • Mozzarella
    • Tomatoes
    • Fresh basil leaves
    • Salt and pepper
    • Balsamic glaze

    Trader Joe's carries a gluten free baguette that is a great option to keep this a gluten free appetizer!


    Swaps & Variations

    • Swap the cheese: Try a dairy-free mozzarella alternative for guests who avoid dairy.
    • Change the tomatoes: Heirloom tomatoes add gorgeous color and an elevated flavor twist.
    • Add protein: A thin slice of prosciutto ups the elegance.
    • Boost the flavor: A sprinkle of flaky sea salt or a touch over the top is incredible.

    How to Make Caprese Crostini

    1. Slice and toast. Slice the baguette into thin pieces and brush lightly with olive oil. Toast until crisp and lightly golden.
    2. Spread with pesto.
    3. Top with mozzarella. Add a slice of mozzarella to each toast. You can leave it fresh or pop back in the oven briefly to soften.
    4. Add tomatoes. Slice tomatoes in half and place them on top.
    5. Add basil. Add a singular basil leaf on top.
    6. Top with balsamic. drizzle with balsamic reduction.
    7. Season. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
    8. Serve immediately. The crisp edges and fresh ingredients are at their best right away.

    Storage and Preparation

    These are best served fresh, but you can prepare the components ahead of time. Slice the bread and store in an airtight container and keep your toppings separate. Assemble just before serving to keep everything crisp and bright.
