Enjoy a gluten free fried chicken sandwich at home with this copycat McChicken patty. Crispy, golden chicken paired with creamy mayo and crisp lettuce brings all the flavors you love, straight from your kitchen but in a much, much healthier way!

    Gluten Free Fried Chicken Sandwich

If you'd like a high protein bun, make these keto chaffles. They have only 2 ingredients and they'll keep this sandwich gluten free too!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Ground Chicken
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Onion Powder
    • Garlic Powder
    • Mustard
    • Arrowroot powder
    • Tortilla Chips
    • Cooking Oil (see below)

The cooking oil is to fry the patties. You can use whatever you'd like, but my personal favorites are beef tallow and coconut oil.

    Swaps and Substitutions

    • You can of course use any ground meat you'd like, it just won't be a chicken sandwich anymore!
    • For the cooking oil, I highly recommend coconut oil or beef tallow. While seed oils can be inflammatory, these are much healthier for you.
    • Try plantain chips crushed up instead of crushed tortilla chips.
    • You can use tapioca flour instead of the arrowroot powder.

    How to Make

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the ground chicken, salt and pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, mustard, and arrowroot powder. Form into four patties and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Enough to fill the pan about ⅓-1/2 an inch.

Scramble an egg in a bowl. Crush the tortilla chips finely and place in a second bowl. Dredge the patties one at a time in the egg, then fully coat with the tortilla chips.

Place the coated patties in the hot oil and fry approximately 4 minutes per side, or until a thermometer inside reads 165F.

Remove to a paper towel lined plate and serve immediately.

    Top Tip

While you can use any tortilla chips you like, my absolute favorite way to make these is with Siete's Nacho Grain Free Tortilla Chips! The flavor and texture is delicious and Siete always has clean ingredients.
