Why You'll Love These Fried Chicken Tacos

    • Crispy + juicy: That golden fried taco crunch filled with flavor? Unreal.
    • Easy to customize: Top ‘em your way—slaw, guac, spicy mayo, cheese—you name it.
    • Great for a crowd: Serve taco bar style and let everyone build their own.

    Ingredients

    • Ground Chicken
    • Whole30 Taco Seasoning
    • Oil for frying
    • Corn or other gluten free tortillas
    • Toppings of choice: see below

    Swaps and Variations

    • Meat: Use ground pork, beef, or turkey instead!
    • Toppings: Try mango salsa for a tropical twist or jalapeños for heat.
    • Tortillas: Cassava for grain-free, or your favorite gluten-free brand.

How to Make Ground Chicken Tacos

    1. Prep the chicken: Mix the ground chicken with taco seasoning and divide it into 6 portions.
    2. Press onto the tacos: Take one portion of chicken and spread it all over one side of the tortilla, just about completely covering it.
    3. Fry: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken tortillas starting with the ground chicken down, about 3 minutes per side. When finished, set them aside on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and paper towel.
    4. Assemble: Load up your favorite toppings! When finished, fold them in half, the tortilla may crack but it will still hold everything together!

    Topping Options

    • pico de gallo
    • avocado
    • pickled onions
    • dairy-free sour cream and cheese
    • hot sauce
    • cilantro
    • cotija cheese
    • cilantro lime dressing

    Storage and Reheating

    • Storage: Store leftover ground chicken tacos in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
    • Reheating: While fried food never reheats well, the best way is to reheat in the oven or air fryer at 375°F until hot and crispy. Avoid the microwave to keep the coating as crunchy as possible.
    • Freezing: I do NOT recommend freezing these!
