This sausage bowl pair perfectly with my creamy Italian dressing, which is paleo friendly!

Why You’ll Love These Chicken Sausage Bowls

    • Clean ingredients-you get to control what's in these bowls, and we're using fresh ingredients and little to no sugar (read the label on the sausages), and seed oil free (read labels on the dressings or make your own!).
    • Quick cook time-this can all come together while the rice cooks!
    • Hearty and customizable-have as much or as little carbs as you like, up your protein intake if you're lacking, etc.
    • Naturally gluten-free and dairy-free-again read your labels but this is easily gluten and dairy free!
    • Paleo optional-if you use a veggie base and use sausage and toppings that are in line with the paleo diet you have a paleo dish here!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Rice
    • Chicken Broth
    • Italian Seasoning
    • Olive Oil
    • Chicken Sausage
    • Red Onion
    • Frozen Broccoli Rabe
    • Red Pepper
    • Dressing of choice (see variations below)

    Variations and Tips

    • Make it spicy: Use a spicy chicken sausage or add red pepper flakes.
    • Make it creamy: Add a spoonful of dairy free ranch or drizzle with some creamy Italian dressing!
    • Switch up the base: Try mashed sweet potatoes, roasted butternut squash, or cauliflower rice to make it paleo!
    • Use Greens: Use greens as your base, or half rice half greens.
    • Add extras: Add sauerkraut, avocado, or a dollop of nut free pesto!

How to Make Chicken Sausage Bowls

Cook rice according to package directions, except use broth instead of water and add in 1 tbsp. of Italian seasoning. When it's finished, stir it and set aside.

Heat a large saucepan over medium heat with olive oil.

Slice the sausage into bite sized pieces, and add to the pan. Sauté while frequently stirring for about 3 minutes.

Add the sliced onion to the pan and stir, sautéing for another 2 minutes.

Add in the frozen broccoli rabe, and stir. Cook until everything is fully heated through, about 8 minutes.

Now it's time to make the bowls! Add the rice as the base, then a scoop of the sausage mixture, the sliced peppers for crunch, then your dressing of choice! See above for dressing options.

    Frequently Asked Questions
