This Ground Turkey Burrito Bowl recipe is a delicious and satisfying meal that combines seasoned turkey, rice, and fresh toppings like salsa! It's a flavorful twist on the classic burrito, packed with protein and customizable to your tastes!

    Turkey Burrito Bowls

Ingredients Needed for this Turkey Burrito Bowl

    • Ground Turkey
    • Whole30 Taco Seasoning
    • Greens
    • Red Onions
    • Black Olives
    • Cucumbers
    • Salsa

    Other Topping Ideas

This is one dish you can easily customize however you like! Here are some other options:

    • Corn
    • Radishes
    • Beans
    • Pico de Gallo
    • Cotija Cheese

While you can of course buy Pico de Gallo fresh in the grocery store, here's a recipe if you'd prefer to make it from scratch!

    Variations and Serving Suggestions

    • Make a spicy version: add chopped jalapenos to the bowl and extra chipotle powder to the seasoning.
    • Use Salsa Verde instead of a regular, red tomato salsa.
    • Make a Cheesy Burrito Bowl and use Queso sauce instead of just cheese.

How to Make Ground Turkey Burrito Bowls

Start by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook for about 8-12 minutes. When it's just about finished, add in the Whole30 Taco Seasoning and mix thoroughly. Set aside.

    Cooking the ground turkey

Prep any veggies and if needed, make the rice. Gather all the ingredients together.

Build your bowl! Start with a base of rice and greens, then load up with the turkey and toppings.

    Top the bowls

    Enjoy!

    Turkey Burrito Bowl Meal Prep

This is a super easy meal to prep ahead of time!

The rice and meat can be cooked up to 3-5 days in advance. Cook them according to the recipe (meat) and package (rice) directions. Let them cool completely then wrap or seal in an airtight container in the fridge.

The veggies can be chopped in advance. You'll also want to store these in the fridge in an airtight container.

If you're making an special sauces, the same thing applies-let it cool completely if applicable, then store it in the fridge in an airtight container.

When you're ready to eat, heat the meat and rice in the microwave or preferable in an oven safe dish at 350F degrees in the oven until the desired temperature is reached.

Load up on the toppings and enjoy!

    Storage and Reheating

For any leftovers or if prepping in advance, place the meat in an airtight container in the fridge, only after it's cooled completely.

It will last 3-5 days this way.

To reheat it, you can use the microwave, but my preferred method is to reheat it in the oven or on the stove.

For the stove, place it in a skillet and add a little bit of broth or water and stir frequently as it heats.

For the oven, place the turkey in an oven safe dish and place inside the oven at 350F degrees until the desired temperature is reached.

    Top Tip

Don't skip seasoning the ground turkey! It makes the overall meal taste so flavorful, rather than just leaving it bland.
